A Traditional Bulgarian Christmas Eve Table with Five Dishes & Five Bulgarian Wines

The traditional Christmas Eve table is rich in flavours — fresh herbs, beans, walnuts, sauerkraut, dried peppers, pumpkin and freshly baked bread. And finding the right wine to pair with so many different meat-free dishes is not always obvious.

This December, join us at Chapter | Wine for a rehearsal for Christmas Eve.

Our table will feature classic Bulgarian meat-free dishes — bulgur salad with fresh herbs, dried peppers stuffed with beans and walnuts, cabbage rolls, roasted pumpkin, traditional soda bread and a few more festive flavours.

Alongside them, we’ll taste five Bulgarian wines, each with its own character and style. We’ll experiment with different pairings and discover why some combinations work better than others.

And at the end, everyone will be able to answer the most important question:

Which wine would I choose for my own Christmas Eve table?
